After Austin received a diploma in Journalism from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in 2019, he began a career in marketing.
Although the majority of Austin's professional output has included whitepapers, case studies, and advertorials, he has always kept one foot in the world of creative writing and his diverse range of experiences has been providing him with a broad palette of creative expression.
Austin has been bringing his passion for the written word to the Nanaimo poetry community, attending monthly poetry reading events and occasionally performing his own poems. Most recently, he has begun to prepare his first chapbook, Reasonable Offers Only, forthcoming from JLRB Press in 2024.
Austin's involvement in the literary world is only part of the story. Following his passion for music, Austin has worked as a production assistant for Live Nation concerts at venues such as the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary. Currently, Austin is pursuing a computer science degree at Vancouver Island University.
